Marks First Prescription Strength Medication Containing Omega-3 to Enter the Marketplace
(GORDONSVILLE, June 29, 2004) - PBM Pharmaceuticals, Inc, (PBM), developer of innovative prescription formulations, is announcing the launch of Animi-3™ on July 1 at a conference on inflammatory and autoimmune diseases at Griffis Faculty Club at 525 East 68th Street, Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York. The company sponsored Press Conference is titled "Increased Consumption of Omega-3 Fatty Acids may lower the risk of Cardiovascular Disease, Dementia, and Inflammatory Disease"-in New York City.
The only Rx product of its kind (patent pending), Animi-3™ contains three important B vitamins-prescription strength Folic Acid, plus Vitamins B6 and B12, as well as pharmaceutical grade, DHA dominant omega-3 fatty acids. The omega-3 in Animi-3™ has been highly refined to remove contaminants commonly found in fish oils such as methylmercury and PCB's.
In the past two decades, randomized trials have shown that Omega-3 fatty acids, principally DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) components, significantly decrease mortality from cardiovascular disease. More recently, scientists have been discovering that these fatty acids also may have a beneficial, protective effect in dementia (including Alzheimer's Disease), inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
"...Dr Christine Albert, of Harvard University Medical School - who will reveal results of her research...this week (in London)- has found that the risk of a heart attack is greatest in individuals whose omega-3 levels have dropped below 4 percent of the fatty acids found in red blood cells. Those with a level greater than 8 percent face the least risk of an attack."*
Clinical trials have demonstrated that administration of the combination of folic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 can lower high levels of homocysteine in the blood-a risk factor for both cardiovascular disease and dementia.
PBM has already begun taking orders and shipping Animi-3™ to drug wholesalers. The product is being promoted extensively to Cardiologists, Psychiatrists, Internists and Family Practitioners.
PBM Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is headquartered in Gordonsville, VA. and recently launched the innovative, patented Bright Beginnings™ Prenatal Bar, the only prescription food bar that supplies the daily requirements of vitamins and minerals recommended for women during pregnancy and the post partum period.
